The advantages of group tours is that if you are a solo traveller, then you will probably find some other solo travellers amongst the group with whom you can share the experience of travelling to interesting and maybe exotic places.

I always find it a bit lonely when I travel on my own (when hubby can't come) and see some amazing things only to find I have no one to share the moment with.

You will also make some long lasting friends and maybe find that travelling companion for future trips.

It is also comforting to know that someone else is doing all the hard work of organising and all you have to do is sit back and relax in comfort.

If you have never travelled before it is also a great introduction to the world of travel. As Phil Hoffmann of Phil Hoffmann travel states,

"A good tour is planned around the best times to visit a country and include the best attractions and experiences to bring you closer to the culture, people and natural beauty of the destination."

So for those solo travellers who want to feel safe, secure and comfortable, think about group travel. Ask your travel agent to find you a great package or search the internet.

* Remember though to follow all the same tips as if you were travelling solo and don't forget travel insurance.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade says more than 1200 people are taken to hospital, 50 are evacuated from the country for medical purposes and 900 are killed overseas each year. To add to that the cost of retrieving family members from overseas countries can easily top $50,000. You don't want to have to sell your home and assets because you didn't have insurance. Make sure your cover is adequate for the time you are away.
