South Australia

Why South Australia (SA)?

Firstly it is the State (Adelaide City) where I was born and grew up in. My husband also grew up in South Australia (in the country area of Loxton and Port Augusta).

After traveling overseas for many years from the 70's to 80's, plus many shorter trips over the last 20 years we have always said our state (SA) is the place to live.

The climate is perfect (well almost) with summer temps being anything from low 20's (Celsius) to mid 40's in the city areas and up in the high 40's to 50's in the northern areas of the state. Winters are usually around the average of 10-15 Celsius. SA was not a convict settlement, but was a free settled, planned British province.

So what is there to attract the over 50 baby boomers to our lovely state?

SA has some of the best wineries (more than 200 cellar doors within an hours drive from Adelaide) in the world. It is the gateway to the famous Flinders Ranges and Kangaroo Island.

SA has 3,800 kilometers of coastline and is famous for surfing, boating, fishing, diving and other water sports. Seafood is abundant all along the coast.

We have the largest open range zoo in the world called Monarto (I am a volunteer there) where the aim is to save endangered animals from extinction.

SA also hosts the Santos Tour Down Under, Adelaide Festival, Womadelaide and lets not forget the Pandas in our beautiful Adelaide zoo.

Over the next few months/years I will be uploading information re what to do in my state SA and providing links to the websites.

My aim is to give you the baby boomers/over 50's and everyone else, as much information I can re my State, so that when you visit you will have the best holiday and tell your friends to come and visit.
